As a Commonwealth of the United States, Puerto Rico offers a unique set of advantages that few tourism destinations can provide, both in terms of the diversity of its tourist attractions and its economic and political stability. In 1933, the Puerto Rico Tourism Company ("PRTC") was created to develop world-class tourism infrastructure to increase the appeal of the Island to business and leisure travelers, and thereby improve the Island's economy.
As a result, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico recently began offering premier government-owned properties for tourism development through public/private partnerships. The Global Development Solutions team was selected to provide advisory, structured finance, RFP and developer selection, and development management services in association with the development of many of these projects. They include:
- Punta Lima, Naguabo: A pristine 257-acre oceanfront paradise
- La Montaña Retreat, Maricao: A secluded mountain oasis
- Punta Guanajibo: A secluded 72-acre oceanfront site
- Playa Lucia, Yabucoa: A 54-acre beachfront property
- La Pared, Luquillo: A 1.63-acre beachfront site
